Enemies Attract in “Beautiful Danger” by Michele Hauf

by Michele Hauf, author of Beautiful Danger (Harlequin Nocturne, July 2013)

Hope you all had a great 4th of July!  (And early wishes for a Happy Bastille day in France!)  I’m particularly tickled that Beautiful Danger is out right now because the cover has very patriotic colors.  A perfect holiday read!

This is the first in a mini-series that features vampire hunters in The Order of the Stake.  These hunters are called knights (and are actually knighted into the Order and take vows) and they live to protect mortals from vicious vampires.  Now, not all vampires are vicious. The knights don’t bother the good vamps.  But then, each knight does have his or her own gauge when it comes to which vampires they believe my cause harm to humans.  Lark, the heroine, is the only female knight, and she joined because her husband (a former knight) was kidnapped and tortured by vampires. Now she wants revenge.

Surprisingly, the one thing that can lure her from revenge, and help her to see the world in a new, much clearer way, is the darkest, most damaged vampire I have written thus far.  Domingos LaRoque was held prisoner by werewolves and forced to the blood games (pits vampires against one another to the death).  He escaped, but not with his sanity.

A truly odd couple, Lark and Domingos, but I had such a great time putting their story to the page.  I hope you will enjoy it as much!
