Eve Silver’s Otherkin Prequel — and Win an Autographed Book!

Eve Silver‘s new paranormal romance trilogy the Otherkin (including novels Sins of the Heart, Sins of the Soul and Sins of the Flesh) will be released from HQN Books starting next month–but you can get a taste NOW with the ebook exclusive prequel, Sin’s Daughter! Eve blogs with us today about this special story, and has a signed copy of Sins of the Heart to be won by a commenter!

by Eve Silver, author of Sin’s Daughter (HQN ebooks, July 2010) and the upcoming Otherkin trilogy

Kai Warin, the darkly sexy hero of Sin’s Daughter, didn’t get to choose his death. But he got to choose his eternity. When Sutekh, the Underworld überlord of chaos and evil, offered him forever, Kai accepted even though the offer came with strings.

He had his reasons.

One of them was Amber Hale.

Before she betrayed him, he’d been in love with her. He died for her. He died because of her. She’d set him up. She’d sent him to die.

He’d been a good guy back then. A push-a-stranger’s-car-out-of-a-snowbank kind of guy.

Now, he’s a survival-of-the-fittest kind of guy.

And he owes Amber a debt that has nothing to do with hearts and flowers.

Actually, scratch that. Maybe nothing to do with flowers, but everything to do with hearts. Because in accepting Sutekh’s offer, Kai became something other than he had been: a soul reaper. Deadly, ruthless, he harvests the still-beating hearts and darksouls of those who are truly evil in order to feed Sutekh’s voracious hunger. And all the while he’s running a little side project: hunting Amber.

In Sin’s Daughter he finds her, and he finds out exactly how thin the line between love and hate really is. He’s not the only one who’s been looking for her, or the only one to succeed. And now ruthless hunters are after them both.

I first met Kai while I was writing Sins of the Heart, the first book in the Otherkin trilogy. Though he doesn’t end up having page time in that book, Kai has an important behind-the-scenes role. He’s a character I couldn’t forget, and I was glad when he reappeared in Sins of the Flesh, the third book in the trilogy. So if, like me—and Amber—you find Kai hard to forget after meeting him in Sin’s Daughter, don’t worry…you’ll get to see him again.

To celebrate the release of Sin’s Daughter, one random commenter will win an autographed copy of Sins of the Heart.

UPDATE: The contest is now closed, and the winner is: The winner is: MinnChica. MinnChica, please email Eve through the contact page of my website: http://www.evesilver.net/about-3/contact/ Thanks again to Eve for being with us and offering up her autographed book! ~Amy

    Hi Eve:

Your story description seems to be very philosophical. The idea of choosing your eternity is fascinating. Are you developing a philosophical world view in these stories – for example, the way that C. S. Lewis did? It just seems like you are doing more than romance.

  8. Thanks for the kind comments and the interest in my stories :-)

Vince: Life’s about choices. The good and the bad. Some, we’re glad we made. Others…not so much. That’s true of my characters as well. As to writing more than romance…I write what I like to read, and that’s romance. I’m a sucker for the happily-ever-after. But if you’re asking if my stories have layers, then I’d answer with a big “yes.” Tons of world-building and layers. There’s a definite urban fantasy/fantasy edge to these paranormal romances.

Susan: Glad you’re enjoying His Dark Kiss.

Diana: I love Egyptian mythology too!

  23. Mollyscribbles

Interesting approach, but . . . you do know what ‘Otherkin’ means, right? It’s appropriate enough, in the context, but the term does still have some odd connotations.

  24. Rachel Elizabeth

The story sounds really great. He loved her then was betrayed? Curious to know how that’ll turn out! I like the cover!

  27. You are awesome! I’ve had a sneak peak and love the series!

  28. Mollyscribbles, you said: “Interesting approach, but . . . you do know what ‘Otherkin’ means, right? It’s appropriate enough, in the context, but the term does still have some odd connotations.” ___ I’m not sure what you mean by odd connotations. To my understanding, Otherkin are those who identify with something non-human. There is an element of reincarnation associated with Otherkin, which is relevant to the Egyptian mythology referenced in the series. Otherkin may have a non-human soul or ancestry. These are the elements that are relevant to the world I’ve created. I’m unaware of any other connotation.

  29. Yvonne B, you said: “You are awesome! I’ve had a sneak peak and love the series!” ___ Thank you! I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying the series :-)

  30. Hi Eve – dropped by to say how excited I am about the Otherkin trilogy. Just saw the cover of Sins of the Flesh – wow. Can’t wait – the excerpts will keep me happy for now.
