All right Lords of the Underworld fans, this is what you’ve been waiting for: The Darkest Passion, the latest LOTU novel by Gena Showalter, is on sale now! So without further ado, here’s Gena to tell us more about this hotly-anticipated book!

by Gena Showalter, author of The Darkest Passion (HQN Books, June 2010)

Angels and demons = enemies.  Right?  Well, not necessarily in my newest release, The Darkest Passion.   Aeron is an immortal warrior possessed by the demon of Wrath.   In past Lords of the Underworld books, he’s been plagued by bloodlust, nearly killed his best friend’s woman, and vowed never to fall for a mortal. They are too weak, he thinks. Too easily destroyed.

Being the cruel writing mistress that I am, I decided to shake up his entire world — insert evil laugh.

In walks Olivia.

She is the angel sent to kill him.   Only, she finds herself craving him instead.   He is everything she should despise – vengeful, wicked – and has even tattooed his entire body with the faces of those he’s slain.  But underneath that rough, alpha exterior, she sees a man in need of love, and beauty wants to sooths the beast.

And so, Olivia gives up her wings, her immortality, to be with him.  Only, in doing so, she becomes the very thing he will not allow himself – fallible – guaranteeing her a battle royale.

Writing their love story was both a blessing and a curse for me.  Which makes sense, I guess, since I was blending good with evil.  Aeron’s scenes flowed smoothly.  Maybe because I’d written scenes from his point of view before, and knew him very well.  Olivia, however, gave me fits.  She had never been touched by human emotion before, and every experience was new for her.  New and exciting and frightening.  She resisted my . . . guidance, determined to blaze her own path.

In the end, Aeron certainly appreciated her efforts.

I hope you enjoy their journey to happily ever after as much as I enjoyed writing it – without the tribulation, of course.

All the best!
Gena
