Someone would more than likely pick one of those up over the old covers just because they are darker and leave more to the mind. I haven't read the actual books, but I feel that although the new covers look more pleasing to the eye, the older covers may be better suited for the series after reading the synopsis for the series. The art is more suiting for a line of fantasy books whereas the new covers denote a more paranormal line. The new covers definitely have that aesthetic value to them. I bought these books when they first came out and thought they had some of the best covers around. They fit the books perfectly.
