Writing Opportunity: Online Pitch to Silhouette Nocturne Bites Editor!
by Amy Wilkins, Digital Production Coordinator
Do you dream about having your own paranormal romance short story published by Silhouette Nocturne Bites? We have a great opportunity coming up where you can submit your ideas for a chance for a live online pitch session with Associate Sr. Editor Ann Leslie Tuttle through the eHarlequin.com Community!
Details on how the pitch session works are available here on the Community. Here are the basics:
To enter, send a 2 paragraph blurb of your manuscript to our board host Rae by April 6th.
Five entries will be chosen by Ann Leslie Tuttle and those will be announced April 10th.
Pitches will happen April 15th, at 10 am ET. But read the rules below to ensure your entry can be accepted.
You MUST be able to enter and post inside the eHarlequin.com chat room. If you are unable to use the chat room and your submission is chosen, we will be unable to offer you another venue option and it will be unfair to an entrant who is able.
ou MUST have a completed manuscript that is targeted to Nocturne Bites. Editors have the option to request partials or fulls.
You MUST be available at the given chat time. As stated above, we will be unable to offer another venue or time option.
Please include your member name, your full name along with your submission.
It is also a good idea to review the Nocturne Bites Writing Guidelines to make sure your story fits all the criteria.
Best of luck to all you aspiring authors out there!

This is great! I’ll be excited to enter. Can we enter more than one manuscript?
Hi Tivi,
Rae says that you can send her two blurbs. Good luck!

I’m confused. The guidelines say we can just submit; what’s the advantage of the pitch session?
Hi Doru,
In a way it’s like skipping the slush pile — if you’re picked for the pitch, you get access to the acquiring editor directly. It’s like pitch sessions that happen at conferences but more convenient and totally free
I think the Desire line has picked up something like 3 new authors from the Community pitch sessions.

This is a great opportunity. If I had something ready to go, I might consider posting to this contest myself. I love the covers that Nocturne Bites is doing.

Hi Amy,
I was following the thread weeks ago when the Pitch offer was postponed from February. I understood from Rae back then that a longer word count (15,000-20,000 words) and new Nocturne Cravings guidelines would replace the old NB guidelines/word count. I can’t find the link anymore to that forum to see if anything changed. The link given above takes me to the old guidelines/word count. Which is it to be?
Thanks,
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I just saw your comment!
This post is about an old pitch session from 2009. The pitch this year will be changed to reflect the new guidelines, which have been posted on eHarlequin.com here: http://www.eharlequin.com/articlepage.html?articleId=1612&chapter=0
Thanks,
~Amy
