VANISHED is here!
That’s right, for all of you who’ve written me over the last year asking when you would see another book in the Immortal Guardian series—VANISHED is now on the shelves!
This book was a treat for me to write. Firstly, I love the paranormal. In my family, it’s not unusual for someone to stop by on their way to the ‘other side’, just to say goodbye. And I do believe that love can conquer anything. Even death. Comes from being mostly Irish, I think. Which is another reason I loved writing this book.
VANISHED is set in County Mayo, Ireland, absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. And to be specific, VANISHED is set exactly where the cottage my husband and I stayed in the last time we were there. Of course, I gave Rogan Butler a gorgeous mansion, but it’s on the shores of Lough Mask, a real lake that fed a lot of my daydreams when I was there.
The village of Tourmakeady and the city of Westport are real, too. And I described the drive into Westport exactly as you would find it if you were there. (Although, I didn’t give Aly the problem I once faced of having to wait while a farmer’s wife chased the family cow down the road).
In VANISHED, Guardian Rogan Butler is alone as he’s been for centuries. Ever since he lost the one woman who had been destined to be his mate.
He’s content with his world. Until Alison Blair, an American, shows up at his castle to deliver a message about a sinister premonition.
Rogan is more than she expected—and Alison is a temptation he doesn’t want.
Then Alison’s sister vanishes without a trace and Rogan and Aly must team together to both find the missing woman and quash a growing threat against humanity.
I had a wonderful time with these two characters and made myself so lonesome for Ireland, I’m thinking another trip is desperately needed.
I want to go back to Lough Mask and sit on the porch with a cup of hot tea and watch the sunrise over the lake. I want to hear the ghosts whispering to me of long ago loves and magical nights. I want to feel the cold slap of the Irish wind and the warmth of the Irish people.
But until I can get back there, I’ll read VANISHED, as I hope you will. And when you do, I hope you find some of the magic of that wonderful island.

As always, Maureen, looking forward to reading your new book. Your stories are always wonderful, your characters are so alive (even when they’re dead!). And all that talk of Ireland . . . makes me wish I could sit on that front porch and drink tea with you.
