Linda Thomas-Sundstrom‘s “Transitions” miniseries continues this month with Wolf Bait from Nocturne Bites, hot on the heels of the first installment, Blackout. Learn more about the next couple to encounter werewolves and sexy romance in Linda’s paranormal world…
by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom, author of Wolf Bait (Nocturne Bites, Feb. 2009)
Thanks for having me back this month to chat about my February Nocturne Bite release, Wolf Bait. I’m happy to be here.
If you visited last month, you’ll know that I’m excited about this new series called “Transitions” that deals with humans transitioning or morphing into darker things. In this case, werewolves.
Reiteration in a nutshell:
The storyline that will continue throughout five books for the Silhouette Nocturne imprint is that there’s a nasty criminal in Miami who is biting people, infecting them with a virulent form of an ancient Lycan virus. In five books, these first two of which are Nocturne Bites, five sets of couples will come into contact with this criminal in one way or another, each couple finding each other through a transition.
In last month’s Nocturne Bite, Blackout, a deputy district attorney and a female cop found each other.
The storyline continues in this month’s Wolf Bait with a blurb goes like this:
What sort of bait would psychiatrist Jenna James use to gain her former lover’s assistance on a really unusual case?
Doesn’t that question set you to thinking? I’d love to hear your take on it, if you’re feeling creative, after taunting you with a few more details.
In Wolf Bait sexy Miami detective Matt Wilson, once director of a psychiatric facility, is called back to that facility to consult on a new case by his ex-lover, Dr. Jenna James. He is loathe to go, but can’t resist the call. Their wildly passionate affair had come to an abrupt stop a few months before, for reasons he never mentioned to Jenna, so she’ll be hurt, even angry, he supposes. And rightly so.
As for Jenna, dumped without explanation, its imperative she sees Matt again. But will she actually want Matt’s help with this unusual case, or is the anomaly in the padded cell she shows him merely the bait she has used to meet him face to face for a showdown?
Everyone has secrets. In Wolf Bait , beneath the full moon, those secrets will be revealed as the second of my five couples deals with their own transitions.
Okay. So does this tidbit sound spooky? Do you love a good mystery as much as I do?
This pairing of psychiatrist and psychiatrist-turned-detective was delicious to write. Jenna and Matt are not your average couple, by far, and after the initial blurb question presented itself, the story just of wrote itself.
I hope you’ll like Wolf Bait as much as you liked Blackout. Since each story stands alone (though all of the characters will meet up in the last book of the series), you don’t have to have read the first installation. But it sure would be nice if you did!
I’m busy now writing the next two full books, which will be in print. As always, I’m digging into the paranormal with both hands, having a great time, and hoping you’ll come along for the ride.

This sounds good! Now I have to skip on down to the Barnes and Noble to see if they have it.
Tianna, the Nocturne Bites are ebook exclusive so they’re not in stores. You can buy and download them at any ebook retail site like http://www.ebooks.eharlequin.com, Sony Store, Fictionwise, etc.

Hey – sorry – didn’t know I was up here yet! EEK! Yep – Bites are ebook downloads and really easy to do! And I like this one – it’s part of my new “Transitons” world. I’m really getting my teeth into this series. Loving every minute of it.
Linda
Oh – yeah – you’ll like Matt Wilson, the sexy psychiatrist here turned detective. He was really fun to write, and he’ll reappear in the first full Nocturne in this series as a minor character, fleshing out his own background a wee bit more.
All of the characters from these 5 books will intermingle in various ways – one here, one there, until they all meet up in the grand finale. Don’t you just KNOW I’m salivating to write that one?
Linda
Hi Linda – love your stories.
What is your favorite part of writing BITES and why are you drawn to werewolfs?
TX
HI Jeanne D – I love writing about werewolves because whether male or female, they’re human most of the time (well, at least outwardly). This leaves plenty of room for romance and intrigue, as well as the drama of THOSE special nights when the beastly parts of them appear. Ya know? Hot stuff ~! The possibilites are endless.
With vampires (my first book) the dead guys are dead. Though they might be fun, they’re always soooo cool to the touch. I’d take a hot-blodded Were any old time. And werewolves don’t sleep in coffins! That has to be a good thing.
ha
Linda
Jeanne D – as for the BITES – wow. These are fabulous to me. Lightning-paced action novellas. Now, they are short enough that you can’t expand on these ideas or create too much of a good thing … but in my BITES the stories are about relationships, and in particular, one special moment in them. I’d love to write a zillion BITES. But I have to tell this “Transitions” tale first – get it out of my system in all 5 books. These characters from BLACKOUT and WOLF BAIT yammer in my head, vying for good parts in the grand finale.
Linda
Linda, you are really racking up the super covers! As soon as I am off deadline…..you are the first thing I am going to read1
Thanks Deborah – it’s an honor to be on your reading list!
Linda
Sounds like a fun series Linda!
Congratulations!
Lisa
Your series sound interesting. You said that the first two are Nocturn Bites. Does that mean it’s for the internet only? Are they shorter? And are
the last three books regular mass market?
Good luck with the series.
Hey, Linda! Great BITES–can’t wait to read ther est! Keep ‘em coming!

Linda, You’ve really got it going, girl. JKay
What can I say, Linda, other than you’re a terrific writer!
Hi Linda,
Sounds like a wonderful series with an interesting premise. The Nocturne Bites are a great way to start a series.
Lots of luck with the books,
Helen
I’m just smiling for you, Linda! From our American Title time together, things just keep getting better! Brava!
Thanks, Helen. Yes, I love the BITES. Thanks for stopping by.
Linda
Hey Linda,
I can’t keep up with you !! The bites are inticing, intriguing and you do a great job with the players.
Ergo, you put it all together to give us a fun read, despite the “darkness” of the theme.
Thanks Judi, my fellow American Title gal, and thanks to Babette and Lisa and BAJ. Glad you stopped by!
Linda
Hi Jannine. In answer to your question, the first two BITES (ebook novellas) are lead-ins to the bigger story that will encompass all five books in this series. The next books will be full Nocturnes in print and on bookstore shelves. Yay. But each BITE stands on its own with two characters meeting, and how they deal with a new relationship and the “transition” from human to other darker things.
I just love the creativity of bringing five sets of couples together, then weaving a few of them in and out of the other books.
For an author, it just doesn’t get better than this!
Linda
Oh – yeah—- and I wonder how yu get your cute little photos into the boxes next to your posts. Anyone willing to let us know how to do that?
Linda
I can’t wait to read your new books. Congradulations.
I love werewolves and vamps. I can’t wait to read this.
